March 2018 Shipment Report

March shipments came in at a new peak of 1,708 which was 19.2% up over February and 18% higher than March of 2017. Both single-sections and multi-section shipments saw large gains with the 975 single-sections beating February’s total by 20.7% and March of 2017’s total by 22.3%, and the 733 multi-section homes beating February by 17.3% and March 2017 by 12.8%.

At the end of the first quarter shipments are up 22.7% compared to Q1 of 2017.

TMHA was pleased to see the replacement of lost manufactured homes with new MH as part of the GLO’s recently released action plan and TMHA requested in its public comment letter that the plan also allow homeowners the option to replace lost site-built homes with new manufactured homes.

So as we move from the winding down of the temporary housing program and into the permanent rebuilding effort we expect the strong demand for MH to only continue.

The state’s overall housing inventory moved up slightly to 3.3 months but remains under supplied, and the Texas economy continued to improve through March.
