August 2016 Reports and September Preliminary Data
New titles for August finished stronger than the preliminary data suggested in last month’s report. Multi-section titles came in slightly up, and single-section titles were up a healthy 10.61% over July and 24.56% over August of 2015.
Looking at county installs for the month, Caldwell (56.25% MoM) and Hidalgo (38.89% MoM) landed in the top five for the month with big month-over-month gains, although that wasn’t quite enough sales to keep Johnson County from over taking Hidalgo in the top ten counties for new installs on the year.
Used titles had a strong month with nearly double-digit gains across every section.
In September’s preliminary numbers we’re seeing a slowdown from August. This is a pattern we’ve seen every September since we started our market analysis back in 2012 and could be a seasonally related phenomenon. The same month comparisons against September of 2015 look better, but show a slight decline driven by fewer single-section home sales. We’ll be watching to see what October’s data brings, since 2012 it’s been a coin flip as to whether titles move up or down moving from September to October.
