Texas Manufactured Housing Survey - General Business Activity Index

The Survey
TMHA in partnership with the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University conducts a monthly Texas Manufactured Housing Survey (TMHS) of 20 plants representing 92% of the state’s HUD-code manufactured home production. Participants are asked whether production, prices, orders, and other indicators have improved, worsened, or held steady compared to the previous month, and responses are weighted by each facility’s share of production to form a balance index. Any reading above zero means more of the market reported improvement than decline.
General Business Activity
General business activity improved again in August for Texas manufactured home production facilities. The index registered 80, and represents improvement across 80% of the weighted sample, the broadest reading since May’s unanimous mark. In seasonally-adjusted terms it was the highest sentiment score since September of 2023. Expectations for the six months ahead rebounded from July’s pullback.
