Texas Manufactured Home Shipments in February 2023

February Shipments

Manufactured home shipments to Texas retailers stabilized in February rising a seasonally-adjusted +2.2% over the previous months large pullback in run rates. Shipments continue to run below 2014 levels and the raw total for February was -34.8% below February of 2022.

The 1,009 total homes shipped was -127 homes below the point forecast and back inside of the 95% prediction interval.

February Production

Texas manufactured housing plant production declined slightly in February with the seasonally-adjusted total dropping -0.2% from the previous month and the seasonally-adjusted floor data down -0.7%. In comparison to February of 2022 the raw total of homes was down -36.5% and the floors minimum was down -34.8%.

The 1,270 total homes produced was -129 homes below the forecast for the month as Texas plant production is also running below 2014 levels.

March Outlook

The forecasting models have March shipments at 1,235 (+/- 232) and Texas factory production at 1,535 (+/- 266) homes. The Texas Manufactured Housing Survey (TMHS) for March signaled run rates were not yet rising, but new orders were starting to pick up. Take the unders once again.

Annual Totals

The year-to-date annual shipment total is down -33.9% and Texas plant production is down -37%.

The forecast for annual Texas shipments in 2023 moved lower to 13,206 (+/- 2,287) and forecasted Texas plant production moved down to 17,029 (+/- 2,675).
