October 2016 Shipment Report

Shipments in the state took quite a hit in October coming in at 908 total homes, the second lowest total for a month this year. The decline was accompanied by a 15.8% increase in homes shipped out of the state compared to September. Much of that out of state volume is most likely made up of FEMA units to help out with the Louisiana flood relief and it is great that our manufacturers are able to step up and help provide housing to areas in need.

The 515 total homes shipped out of the state for October is the highest amount for any month this year. Despite the increase in homes headed out though, the total homes produced in the state was down -7.9% over September, so there was some definite softening in supply.

Looking forward, we had our first quarter board meeting in Arlington this past Tuesday and most of the manufacturers present had healthy backlogs and were very bullish on 2017, so we don’t expect the October declines to continue for long.
